Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra, LLC 

Dates for Academic Year 2023-2024

 

DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

 

All group classes, and concerts are held at

The First Methodist Church 506 E 28th St. 

in Bryan unless otherwise noted.


 

Fall Semester:

11 group lessons, 11 private lessons and 3 concerts.

 

Spring Semester:

17 group lessons, 16 private lessons and 3 concerts.

 

Group classes:

Saturdays from 8-9AM at

First Methodist Church in the Heritage Room

 

Private lessons:

will be arranged with your assigned private teacher for 30 minutes during the week


 

Important Dates:

 

September:

16th* (Orientation and fitting of instruments) 

Private lessons start the week of the 18th.

Orchestra Rehearsal: 16*, 23, 30

 

October:

Orchestra Rehearsal: 7, 14, 21, 28  

Friday October 27th 7PM 1st Inaugural concert of BVYSCO

 

November:

Orchestra Rehearsal: 4, 11, 18

 

December:

Orchestra Rehearsal: 2, 9 

Friday December 2nd at 7PM First Friday in Downtown Bryan at String and Horn Shop Concert 2 TBA

Tuesday, December 5th at 7PM Holiday Concert 

 

 

SPRING SEMESTER

 

January:

Private lessons start on the 6th.

Orchestra Rehearsal: 6, 13, 20, 27

 

February:

Orchestra Rehearsal: 3, 10, 17, 24

February: 2nd 7PM Concert 4

 

March:

Orchestra Rehearsal: 2, 9, 23

March: 8th 7PM Concert 5

 

April:

Orchestra Rehearsal: 6, 13, 20, 27

 

May:

Orchestra Rehearsal: 4, 11

May: 10th 7PM Concert 6

  • Beginners only need apply.

  • Child’s Age Range: 7-9

  • Guardian: 21 and up

  • Fill out the application online and send a video of you and participating child together answering questions from the interview portion of this application.

  • Commitment to the dates given in this application is REQUIRED

  • Tuition for the BVYSCO program is free, but guardians agree to pay half of the instrument rental fee monthly.

  1. Have you or your child ever played or is learning to play a musical instrument?

  2. Have you or your child taken any general music classes at school?

  3. Has your child spoken of wanting to learning any of the string instruments?

  4. How likely would your child want to practice and or play the same instrument as you?

  5. Would you and your child be able to commit to practicing at least 20 minutes a day?

  6. Do you work well with your child?

  7. Can you and your child commit to the dates provided in this application? This would include weekly private lessons, all group classes and concert dates.

  8. What instrument would you and your child like to play if accepted into the program?

  9. Violin, viola, cello or string bass?

Terms of Participation 

I understand that the information in this application is true to the best of my knowledge and that the video submitted is our own unedited interview. I also understand that The Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra reserves the right to discharge participants who have submitted false or misleading information in the application process. If accepted as a student of the BVYSCO, I agree to abide by BVYSCO regulations. I agree not to bring any alcoholic beverages or firearms onto BVYSCO premises or to possess or engage in the illegal use of drugs while a student of the BVYSCO. Students are expected (in their academic conduct) to comport themselves with basic standards of honesty and character. Plagiarism, cheating, and dishonesty in BVYSCO related matters are prohibited and can result in a student’s dismissal from the BVYSCO without refunding any part of the fees paid. 

The applicant consents to the creation and distribution of any recording, broadcast, or electronic transmission of any kind, without compensation, made by the BVYSCO or any BVYSCO approved entities while he/she is a student at the BVYSCO. The applicant similarly consents to the use of his/her likeness in photographs, video, or any visual media created and distributed by the BVYSCO or BVYSCO approved entities. 

 


 

 

As the legal parent or guardian, I release and hold harmless The Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra, its owners and operators from any and all liability, claims, demands, and causes of action whatsoever, arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by the participant and/or the undersigned, while in or upon the premises or any premises under the control and supervision of The Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra its owners and operators or in route to or from any of said premises.

The undersigned gives permission to The Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra, its owners and operators to seek medical treatment for the participant in the event they are not able to reach a parent or guardian. I hereby declare any physical/mental problems, restrictions, or condition and/or declare the participant to be in good physical and mental health. I request that our doctor/physician be called and that my child be transported to the nearest hospital if The Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra deems necessary. 

 

 

The undersigned gives permission to The Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra to use any portraits or video that may include your minor student for promotional purposes.

 

 

As the legal parent or guardian, I release and hold harmless The Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra, its owners and operators from any and all liability, claims, demands, and causes of action whatsoever, arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by the participant and/or the undersigned, while in or upon the premises or any premises under the control and supervision of The Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra, its owners and operators or in route to or from any of said premises. 

 

 

 

I hereby give my consent for my son/daughter, to participate in all activities that pertain to the schedule of the Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra and I release the Brazos Valley Youth String Chamber Orchestra (including all directors, officers, employees, agents, or volunteer workers) or event organizers from any claim or liability that may arise directly or indirectly from my child's presence or participation in the activities. I agree that BVYSCO is not responsible for any personal injury, loss or damage that my child may suffer in connection with this event. I also agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the said parties from any claim arising from any wrongful or negligent conduct by my child while a participant at the BVYSCO.
